The access fabric

Owned where it counts. Aggregated everywhere else.

We own and operate the UK access layer, and present every carrier behind it through one consistent operating model.

UK Layer 2

Owned access fabric

Our own BGP network and Layer 2 fabric, with 33+ UK carriers, altnets and fibre networks under wholesale agreement.

Field

Nationwide engineering

IP River-managed field engineering across the UK — no subcontracting through unknown intermediaries.

NOC

24/7 monitoring

A round-the-clock NOC with response targets from one hour, watching every service across the estate.

Global

100+ carriers, 50+ countries

Reciprocal supply extends the same contract and operating model to international sites.

One operational front door

Many networks. One way to work with them.

Access comes from many carriers; the interface you and your customer see is uniform.

Single fault channel

One place to raise and track faults across every carrier — portal-first, with email and phone backups.

Single SLA framework

Standard / Enhanced / Critical applied uniformly wherever the underlying product supports it.

Single change process

One change and escalation process through the partner portal, regardless of which carrier sits behind the service.

Diversity is checked, not assumed

The honesty is the differentiator.

Carrier-of-carrier dependencies are a real risk in any large multi-carrier estate. We say what's validated, and on what basis — and we never present a non-diverse pair as diverse.

PositionWhat it means
ConfirmedSupplier or survey evidence supports the diversity claim.
DesignedServices selected to maximise diversity, subject to survey / carrier confirmation.
LogicalServices differ by product, access or supplier, but physical commonality may remain.
Best-availableTrue diversity not physically or commercially available; resilience via 4G/5G backup.

Contended or consumer-grade services used as backup are described as exactly that — not implied equivalent to the Ethernet primary they sit behind.

We won't sell you fake diversity

Two carriers isn't always two paths.

Carrier-of-carrier dependencies are the hidden risk in any multi-carrier estate. Here's the difference between how it's usually sold and how we'd actually call it.

Your sitetwo carriers AS62163IP River Carrier A Carrier B shared exchange / duct — not diverse 5G · genuinely diverse

Two carriers, two paths into the site. Looks diverse — and most suppliers would sell it to you as diverse. Both carriers actually transit the same exchange. That's not true diversity. We'd flag it on the site record and add 5G as the genuinely diverse path — never present it as something it isn't.

Resilience & diversity, by design

Every way we keep a site up.

No single access pattern across an estate. We build resilience up from the site's criticality — and we're honest about what's truly diverse and what isn't.

Active/active — both carriers carry production at once. Where the secondary is a lower grade it runs active/standby, warm and tested. Cellular OOB is the third path for management and emergency continuity.

Two ways out. CloudConnect gives private access into AWS, Azure or GCP with no public internet in the path; or take a DDoS- and DNS-filtered internet breakout. Often both, chosen per site.

Migration discipline

Replace the supply chain without the site going dark.

The cut-over is operational, not architectural — sequenced by readiness, with the legacy service held live until the new one is proven.

Single-visit migration. We install and test the new access in parallel while the legacy circuit stays live, cut over only once readiness is verified — rollback criteria agreed up front — then cease the legacy line. The site never goes dark.

Advanced routing & private addressing

Your own routing, on our network.

Because we run our own BGP network (AS62163) and core, we can do routing-layer work most aggregators and MSPs can't — provisioned on request where the deal needs it.

Private VRFs

Your own routing domain

A per-customer isolated routing table on our network — your traffic in its own private realm, not just a shared path.

BYOIP

Bring your own IPs

We're a RIPE LIR: advertise your own IP space (from a /24) through AS62163, or take an allocation from us.

Custom realms

Look like your own network

Custom RADIUS realms let a partner authenticate into their own logical network — a VISP that looks like its own ISP, not just white-label billing.

Locked-down routing

Walled-garden by policy

Restrict a service to defined destinations only — e.g. broadband that reaches just your phone system and nothing else, for a high-security site.

A repeatable capability, provisioned on request and scoped to the opportunity. Talk to us about what your estate needs.

Care levels

One SLA framework, chosen per service.

Critical, Enhanced or Standard — selected per site, not per estate, and re-gradable mid-contract as a site's role changes.

Critical
  • 6-hour resolution target
  • 1-hour, 24/7 response
  • Up to 70% monthly rental credit
Core sites, DCs, flagship stores — downtime hits revenue immediately.
Enhanced
  • 20-hour resolution target
  • 3-hour, op hours response
  • Up to 50% monthly rental credit
Secondary distribution, high-revenue retail — significant but containable.
Standard
  • 40-hour resolution target
  • 4-hour, op hours response
  • Ofcom auto-compensation
The retail tail — a day's trading manageable via cellular continuity.

Resolution targets vary by product, carrier and geography. Where an upstream carrier sets a different level, IP River matches or honours the applicable carrier SLA. Targets apply to hard-down faults; full terms in the MSA and Product Schedule.

What we
don't claim

We're honest about what isn't in place yet. We don't promise to catch every hidden carrier-of-carrier dependency in a 33+ panel, and we don't claim a single pane of glass showing every failure domain and every coincident maintenance window — that level of tooling is on the portal roadmap, not in place today. Where things are validated, we say so and on what basis. Where they aren't, we say that too.
